About us

Established in 1997 in Cluj-Napoca, Ancada is a Romanian-based sports gear manufacturer and a registered trademark of Elamir Sport.

We primarily produce sports apparel and sporting goods for soccer, basketball, handball, volleyball, water polo, rugby, football tennis-mainly sports that are played with a ball.
We offer a wide range of sports-related products, from top quality balls and accessories to beautifully designed, performance enhancing athletic apparel and footwear.

The owner, Mircea Barna, was a renowned basketball player in the 60s and the 70s and was repeatedly declared sportsman of the year in Cluj-Napoca (the biggest city in Transylvania), in 1979 and 1985. Mr. Barna believes that the rigorous training regimen he endured as a professional basketball player led to his success as a business man.

The name Ancada refers to Anca and Adriana (Ada) Barna, Mr. Barna's daughters, both tennis players and champions of Germany in 2000 and 2003, respectively.

Ancada's philosophy comes from the belief that an athlete doesn't merely work out to stay fit, but he trains, exercising his muscles while engaging his brain, gathering willpower to push his limits, dismissing any distraction to focus on the task at hand. For the athlete, playing sports becomes a way of life.

That kind of drive and determination is the key to success, especially in times of crisis, as we've learned along the years while developing the Ancada brand.

In 1999, the Romanian handball team (cadets) won the gold medal at the World Championship in China, wearing Ancada.
This event propelled the brand into the world of first class athletes and top sport performers and led to numerous lucrative collaborations.
